Day 14 - MUMBAI / COIMBATORE
After an early breakfast transfer to the airport to board
flight for Coimbatore.
Depart Mumbai at 0950 hrs IC -657
Arrive Coimbatore at 1140 hrs
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.
Later visit the HOUSE OF LAKSHMI MILLS GROUP which
consist of Textile Mills, Engineering works, Producing Spindles
and Textile machinery, a factory for card Clothing and a rayon
Factory. Overnight at hotel.
Day 15 - COIMBATORE
Morning visit SOUTH INDIA TEXTILE RESEARCH ASSOCIATION
(SITRA), which conducts researches in problems of
textile industry, advising Mills on new processes and better
utilization of machines.
Afternoon visit the LOCAL TEXTILE MARKET.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 16 - COIMBATORE / TRIPUR / COIMBATORE
Morning depart for Tripur (51 kms), by surface. Tripur is
the home of cotton. there are a number of GINNING
FACTORIES. This town on the Noyyal river is to cotton
hosiery what Ludhiana in Punjab is to woolens. Its under shirts
and underwear’s enjoys a great reputation. There are nearly 2000
units in the town and its suburbs and their products enjoy a
vast market throughout India, South East Asia and South Africa.
Tripur is also the headquarters of ALL INDIA VILLAGE INDUSTRIES
ASSOCIATION and all khadi work in Tamil Nadu. The group shall
have a meeting with this association, besides visiting other
factories. Return to Coimbatore. Overnight at hotel.
Day 17 - COIMBATORE SALEM / COIMBATORE
Morning depart for Salem by surface (158 kms one way).
Salem’s traditional industry is handloom. Arrive and visit
THIAGARAJA POLYTECHNIC and have an informal
interaction with the students. Also visit the main weaving
centres GUGAI AND AMMA PETTAI. Afternoon visit SURUMANGLAM known
for woolen druggets which are exported to U.S.A. Canada and
Newzealand. Return to Coimbatore. Overnight at hotel.
Day 18 - COIMBATORE / MADURAI
Morning depart for Madurai by surface.
Arrive and check-in at Hotel.
Afternoon visit Meenakshi Temple, Teppakkulam and Trimulai Nayak
Palace. Overnight at Hotel.
Day 19 - MADURAI / CHENNAI
Morning visit SHREE MEENAKSHI TEXTILE LIMITED
at paravai owned by our Dalmia Group. Visit MADURAI COATS which
covers all types from CHENNAI Handloom Yarn to textile Yarn;
coarse drills and sophisticated blended fabrics

Madurai - Chennai Express for Chennai.
Depart Madurai at 1615 hrs
Overnight on board the train.
Day 20 - CHENNAI
Arrive Chennai at 0725 hrs.
Meeting and assistance on arrival and transfer to the Hotel.
Chennai is referred to as the DETROIT of South India. Among the
Textile Mills, Buckingham of Karnatics (BINNYS) is one of the
most important textile mill.
Visit BINNY’S Textile Mills.
Rest of the day free.

Day 21 - CHENNAI
Full day excursion to Mahabalipuram and Kanchipuram.
This morning you drive along palm fringed roads to the golden
city of Kanchipuram, one of India’s oldest towns. Also one of
the India’s most sacred spots, Kanchipuram is filled with
medieval temples. Soaring towers covered with an astonishing
profusion of sculpted images, typically representative of South
India architecture, are everywhere. You will visit four of the
most significant temples, all built between the 7th & 8th
centuries. The very term Kanchipuram Silk is a dazzling array of
colors often shot with threads of gold. Brides from all over
India travel here to shop for bridal saris. Behind practically
every door is a master weaver at work carrying on a tradition
and a way of life that has hardly changed at all over the
centuries. Before you leave visit one of the silk weaving
factories. Proceed to Mahabalipuram- an ancient coastal town not
far from Chennai. Against the backdrop of a blue ocean and
forthing waves are dotted beautifully carved stone images, rock
cut temples and glorious friezes - all works of medieval kings.
Particularly memorable are the Five Rathas a stunning group of
monolithic monuments and the Penanace of Bagirath a huge fresco
carved into a ridge of rock. You will have sometime to enjoy the
white sandy beaches - some of the finest in India. Look out for
the numerous stone masons at work here chipping and carving
likenesses of the images on these ancient complexes. Visit Silk
factory and return to Chennai. Arrive and overnight at hotel.
Day 22 - CHENNAI
As you leave Mahabalipuram later this evening you
will see the ocean filled with fisherman returning with their
day’s catch. Morning city tour visiting St. George Fort, the
Fort Museum, St. Mary’s Church, San Thome Cathedral, the
Mylapore Temple, local textile market and drive along the
Marina beach. Afternoon free. Overnight at hotel.
Day 23 - DEPART CHENNAI
In time transfer to the airport to board flight for onward
destination.
