Highlights: This
tour takes visitors to India’s numerous Bird Sanctuaries
offering a variety of bird life. These sanctuaries offer as many
as 400 species of birds including some very rare species.
Suggested program (best suitable for GROUPS):
Day 1 - DELHI
The colour and romance of India greets you as you disembark
from your jet in Delhi - India’s splendid capital. Meeting and
assistance on arrival and transfer to hotel.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 2 - DELHI
Full day excursion to Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary with
Naturalist.
Overnight at hotel.
Day 3 - DELHI / BHARATPUR
Depart for Bharatpur by Coach. Upon arrival check in at
Forest Lodge.
Afternoon visit the sanctuary by Rickshaw with naturalist.
Often refereed as a Bird Paradise, the Keoladeo National Park at
Bharatpur has as many as 350 species of birds in an area of just
29 sq.km. Bharatpur is the nesting ground of over 120 species of
birds. But more important it receives winter migrants from
Central Asia and Siberia, many of whom travel as much as 6,400
km to reach this wetland reserve.
By October, the migration has begun and thousands of birds
descend on Bharatpur. The most descend on Bharatpur. The most
eagerly awaited are the winter visitors - The rare Siberian
crane which return here annually inspite of ecological
destruction enroute on the migration path. During the winter
month, large heronries are established and a loud repertoire of
bird calls replaces the serenity of summer. It is said that
2,000 painted storks breed in an area of just 2.5 sq. km.
The best time to see bird at Bharatpur is early morning or late
evening. A metalled road runs into the park and visitors can
hire bicycle or cycle rickshaws from the entry point.
The bird life consists of great and little cormorant, egrets,
herons, painted stork, open billed stork, spoonbill, ibis,
dalmatan pelican, common crane, paradise fly catcher and crested
honey buzzard. In the Mammals - Wild Boar, Sambar, Chital,
Blackbuck, Jackals and Hyenas.

Day 4 - BHARATPUR
Early morning visit the Bird Sanctuary & do bird watching by
boat with naturalist. Return to forest lodge.
Late afternoon visit the sanctuary & explore the birdlife by
rickshaw with naturalist.
Day 5 - BHARATPUR
Early morning visit the Bird Sanctuary & do bird watching by
boat with naturalist. Return to forest lodge.
Late afternoon visit the sanctuary & explore the Birdlife by
rickshaw with naturalist.
Day 6 - BHARATPUR / AGRA
Depart for Agra by Coach. enroute visit Fatehpur Sikri built
by Emperor Akbar in 1569. See the graceful buildings including
the Jama Masjid, Tomb of Salim Chisthi, Panch Mahal and other
places. On arrival, check in at hotel.
Afternoon city sightseeing for visiting the world famous Taj
Mahal built by the Mughal Emperor Shahjehan in 1630 for his
queen Mumtaz Mahal to enshrine her mortal remains. Later visit
the Pearl mosque, the Halls of Public and Private audience. Also
the tomb of Itmad -ud-daula built by Empress Noorjehan in memory
of her father.

Day 7 - AGRA / CORBETT
(420 KMS)
Early morning depart for Corbett by Coach. On arrival, check in
at Forest Lodge - This first national park of India was named
after the Anglo-Indian hunter of man eating tigers and leopards
who became a conservationist. Opt for dawn and dusk elephant
safaris through dense forests, some on steep slopes, swift
-flowing rivers, grassy plains between the Garhwal and Kumaon
Shiwalik ranges.
You might spot a tiger, though they are nocturnal creatures, and
see herds of wild elephant resting like charcoalgrey boulders.
There are also long-snouted, fish-eating gharial crocodiles and
their heavier cousins, the mugger; plenty and sambar, chital,
hog and barking deer. More than 400 species of birds inhabit the
park.

Day 8 - CORBETT
Am: Explore the park on elephant back with naturalist.
Pm: Explore the park by jeep with naturalist.
